Privacy policy

Last updated 18 September 2026

Study Guide Maker ("we", "us") is a service that builds study materials with the help of AI, from the content you provide — pasted text or files — or from a topic you name. Today it builds step-by-step courses with quizzes and tests, and study notes to read, print or export; whatever it builds, and in whatever format, this policy calls it your study materials. You use it through our Chrome extension. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. It covers our extension, our website at aistudyguide.net and everything else we offer. By using any part of it, you understand that your information will be handled as described here. Using Study Guide Maker is also subject to our Terms of use.

The short version

  • What you submit is sent to our service and to third-party AI service providers to build your study materials.
  • Your study materials, answers, progress, highlights and bookmarks are saved in your browser.
  • We use an anonymous install ID to count the credits your study materials use, and keep the feedback you choose to send.
  • We collect anonymous usage statistics, such as whether quizzes and tests are passed, to learn whether the product helps people learn. They never include the content you submit, and you can turn them off.
  • We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Information we handle

We also handle what any website and app handles: the pages and screens you view and the site you came from, device and browser details, approximate location by country and city, and information collected through cookies, similar storage and analytics services — to keep things running, remember your preferences, measure how they are used and improve them. Your browser can tell you when a cookie is set or refuse cookies altogether; some things may stop working if you refuse them.

We may combine the information we hold about you, and we may aggregate it or strip it of anything that identifies you. Aggregated and de-identified information is no longer about you, and we may use and share it for any purpose.

How we use it

Who we share it with

Please do not submit content you are not comfortable sharing with AI services.

Business transfers. As Study Guide Maker develops, we may sell or transfer some or all of it. In such a transaction, including while one is being considered, the information described in this policy may be among the assets transferred.

Why we are allowed to handle it

Where the law asks us to name a legal ground for handling information about you — as the laws of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom do — ours are these:

What stays in your browser

Your study materials, your answers and progress, highlights, bookmarks and settings are stored in the browser's extension storage on your device. While something is being built, the files you attached are kept there too, and they are deleted once it is finished. You can delete any of your study materials in the extension, and removing the extension deletes everything it stored.

If you save a copy of your study materials in the extension's settings, the file is saved on your device.

International processing

We and our providers may process information in the United States and in other countries, which may be different from the country where you live, and which may not give it the same protection your own laws do. Where we transfer information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we take the measures the law asks of us to see that it stays protected.

Other sites and services

What we offer may link to sites and services we do not run. What they do with your information is governed by their own policies, not this one, and we are not responsible for them.

How long we keep it

We keep the content you submit for as long as we need it to build your study materials and to keep the service running. Credit records, feedback, usage statistics and other information are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above, for security, or as required by law, and are then deleted or anonymised. Technical logs are short-lived and are overwritten as new entries arrive. Backups are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Chrome Web Store policy

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Permissions the extension uses

Your rights and choices

Two things are in your hands without asking us: you can delete your study materials in the extension at any time, and you can turn off usage statistics in the extension's settings — after that, no statistics are sent.

Depending on where you live, you also have rights over the information we hold. Wherever you are, we will honour these to the extent the law allows:

Write to the address below to exercise any of these. Because no account is involved, what we hold is linked only to an anonymous install ID, and an email alone does not tell us which one; we will reply with what we need in order to find your records.

Children

Study Guide Maker is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. In the European Economic Area, where the age of digital consent is 16 unless the country you live in has set it lower, a child below that age should use Study Guide Maker only with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page.

Who is responsible, and how to reach us

Study Guide Maker is an independent project, and it is the operator responsible for the information described in this policy. Questions about this policy or your data, and any of the requests above: .
